1. What is Ghee Therapy?
Ghee therapy means using pure, traditionally made ghee not only as food but also as a natural medicine.
Both cow ghee and buffalo ghee are equally useful. The difference is only in taste and texture.
Cow ghee is lighter and slightly yellow.
Buffalo ghee is heavier and white in color.
Both heal when used correctly.

2. How to Identify Pure Ghee
Since most commercial ghee is adulterated, identification is important:
1. Fragrance Test – Pure ghee has a mild, soothing aroma. Adulterated ones smell oily, plasticky, or sharp.
2. Solidification Test – At room temperature in winter, pure ghee becomes grainy and semi-solid. Fake ones stay smooth like cream.
3. Burn Test – Take a spoonful and burn it. Pure ghee burns steadily with a golden flame and no residue. Adulterated ones leave black sticky remains.
4. Taste Test – Pure ghee tastes pleasant, melts in the mouth, and leaves no coating on the tongue. Fake ghee feels waxy.

3. Internal Uses (Without Milk)
Always take on empty stomach or before sleep, never over food in excess.
Constipation & Bowel Cleansing → 1–2 tsp warm ghee with warm water.
Acidity & Ulcer Healing → 1 tsp warm ghee twice daily, empty stomach.
Brain & Nerves → 1 tsp at night, followed by a sip of warm water. Improves calmness, sleep, and memory.

Dry Cough & Throat Irritation → A pea-sized ball of ghee kept in the mouth, slowly melting.
Post-Fever Recovery → 1 tsp daily for regaining strength.
Weak Digestion → 1 tsp before meals (max twice daily).

4. External Uses
Nasal Drops (Nasya)
2 drops of warm ghee in each nostril daily in the morning.
Benefits: Prevents dryness, improves memory, sharpens eyesight, reduces sinus issues.
Eye Care (Netra Bindu)
Rub a drop of ghee on eyelids before sleep.
Benefits: Reduces dryness, itching, strain from screens, and prevents early cataract.
Skin Healing
Apply directly on cuts, burns, eczema patches, and dry skin.
Benefits: Fast healing, reduced scars, natural glow.
Hair & Scalp

5. Contraindications (When to Avoid or Use with Caution)
Do not use ghee therapy if you have:
Acute diarrhea or loose motions
Severe fatty liver
Gallbladder blockage or gallstones with acute pain
Acute respiratory infection (cold, fever, pneumonia – avoid nasya especially)
Indigestion with nausea/vomiting
Very high triglycerides (uncontrolled)
Severe obesity (already struggling to walk or with heart strain)
Bleeding disorders (like very low platelets, hemophilia)
Acute gastritis flare-ups
Infectious hepatitis (active stage)
Use only in small quantity under guidance if you have:
Diabetes with obesity
Hypertension with obesity
Elderly patients with weak digestion
Bedridden patients

6. Concern about Obesity
Ghee does not cause obesity by itself. Overeating and inactivity cause obesity.
Small daily doses of ghee (2–3 tsp) improve fat metabolism and help in weight balance.
Overuse (4–5 tbsp daily or more) without physical activity will definitely lead to weight gain, heaviness, and lethargy.
Rule: Ghee heals in moderation, harms in excess.
---
7. Key Rules of Ghee Therapy
Always use pure ghee.
Use small daily doses, never overload.
Prefer warm ghee for both internal and external uses.
Avoid mixing with incompatible foods (like fish, meat, alcohol).
Take daily walk or some form of activity to digest the ghee.

✅ Final Word:
Ghee therapy, when used wisely, can heal digestion, nerves, skin, joints, eyes, and hair.
It is a natural healer, not a license to overeat.
Respect the quantity, and ghee will respect your health.

The conditions I listed in the Ghee Therapy are drawn from:
1. Classical Ayurvedic texts – like Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita where ghee (ghṛta) is described as:
Agni deepaka (improves digestion)
Medhya (improves memory and intellect)
Vata–pitta shāmaka (balances dryness and acidity)
Vrana ropaka (heals wounds and burns)
Chakshushya (benefits the eyes)
2. Traditional Indian medical practices – still followed in Ayurveda panchakarma centers, village healing traditions, and naturopathy units.
3. Modern scientific studies (limited but increasing):
Eye health – Studies confirm that ghee-based anjana and netra tarpana help in dry eye relief.
Digestion – Small controlled trials show ghee improves absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
Skin healing – Peer-reviewed animal studies demonstrate accelerated wound healing with ghee application.
Cholesterol – Some research shows that moderate ghee intake does not raise harmful LDL significantly, especially if combined with active lifestyle.
That said:
For some uses (like constipation relief, eye lubrication, skin healing), there are modern studies plus centuries of clinical observation.
For others (like “memory improvement” or “spiritual clarity”), references are mostly classical Ayurveda, not modern peer-reviewed validation.
Cosmetic uses (face glow, lips, cracked heels) are folk practices that are safe and widely used, though not always studied in journals.
