PARACETAMOL IS NOT YOUR FRIEND

Updated: Sep 22, 2023

Paracetamol is the most commonly used medicine. Most commonly taken tablets like Dolo, Crocin, D-Cold Total, Maftal, Saridon etc are Paracetamol medicines.

Paracetamol is used for

  • Fever

  • Toothache

  • Headache

  • Tension headache

  • Rheumatic and muscle pain

  • Mild arthritis/osteoarthritis

  • Period pain (dysmenorrhea)

  • Migraine

  • Colds and flu symptoms

  • Sore throat

  • Back Pain

  • Sinus pain

  • Post-operative pain

Paracetamol causes many common and serious side effects like:

  • Allergic reactions like hives, itching, rashes, swelling of face, tongue or throat, shortness of breath, wheezing, mouth ulcers.

  • Breathing troubles

  • Fatigue

  • Getting frequent infections

  • Bleeding or bruising

  • Liver damage

  • Weight loss

  • Nausea

  • Loss of hunger

  • Yellow color in eyes and skin

  • Soreness around rectum

  • Longtime use causes liver & kidney damage

  • Acidity and gastric ulcer

If you have been using Paracetamol multiple times in a year, you need to be concerned about these risks. With age, these problems may become bigger.

Because Paracetamol is a generic medicine and now made available over the counter (OTC), it's use has shot up. For pains, fevers, headaches, menstrual cramps, many people are just buying and using Paracetamol. But the consequences are huge.

In emergencies like surgery and severe infections or life threatening conditions, short term use of Paracetamol under the supervision of a Doctor, may be fine.

Pain is not a disease. Pain is a symptom of the disease. Stop fighting with pain. This will eliminate the need for Paracetamol and other painkillers. Eliminate the root cause of your diseases by correcting your lifestyle. This will permanently reduce or eliminate the need for taking Paracetamol.
