Sugar is the most addictive thing ever created by man. Sugar is most hazardous too, as it causes hundreds of diseases. A little extra sugar may seem harmless, but ingested often, it can contribute to a variety of health issues, like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

There are 56 alternative names for sugar like – sucrose, High fructose corn syrup (HFCS), Agave nectar, beet sugar, blackstrap molasses, brown sugar, buttered syrup, cane juice crystals, cane sugar, caramel, carob syrup, castor sugar, coconut sugar, confectioner’s sugar (powdered sugar), date sugar, demerara sugar, Florida crystals, fruit juice, fruit juice concentrate, golden sugar, golden syrup, grape sugar, honey, icing sugar, invert sugar, maple syrup, molasses, muscovado sugar, panela sugar, rapadura, raw sugar, refiner’s syrup, sorghum syrup, sucanat, treacle sugar, turbinado sugar, yellow sugar, barley malt, brown rice syrup, corn syrup, corn syrup solids, dextrin, dextrose, diastatic malt, ethyl maltol, glucose, glucose solids, lactose, malt syrup, maltodextrin, maltose, rice syrup, crystalline fructose, fructose, D-ribose & galactose.

Quitting added sugar lead to many benefits for us all:

  • Improved Weight Management: Sugar is high in calories and directly leads to weight gain. Quitting sugar lead to excess weight loss in all of us.

  • Junk Food Cravings Disappeared: Sugar is the cause of junk food cravings. Junk food contains sugar. Sugar is the number 1 junk. Sugar intake automatically leads to cravings for more and more junk foods. As we quit sugar, the cravings disappeared. We don't have any food craving now.

  • Sleep improved tremendously : The inflammation and cravings created by sugar affects the sleep. Quitting sugar improved our sleep quality. We all sleep like babies every time.

  • Reduced Risk of Chronic Diseases: Our chronic diseases like psoriasis, gastric ulcer, obesity, higher cholesterol, recurrent infections were completely reversed.

    • Type 2 Diabetes: High sugar intake increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

    • Heart Disease: Sugar contributes to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and triglycerides, all of which are risk factors for heart disease. 1

  • Healthier Skin: Sugar contributes to skin problems like acne and premature aging. Cutting back on sugar has definitely improved our skin health and contributed to healing of psoriasis.

  • Stronger Teeth: Sugar feeds the bacteria in our mouth, leading to tooth decay. Reducing sugar intake has help us in protecting our teeth.

  • Reduced Risk of Liver Disease: Excess sugar consumption contributes to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Fatty Liver has become very common now a days due to sugar intake.

  • Improved Mental Clarity: By stabilizing blood sugar levels, quitting sugar improved our focus and reduced instances of "brain fog."

  • Reduced Inflammation: High sugar intake promotes inflammation in the body, which is linked to various health problems. Reducing sugar intake has lowered inflammation in our entire body that has eliminated symptoms like tiredness, swellings, body pains, lethargy etc.

  • Stronger Immune System: High sugar intake weakens the immune system. Reducing sugar intake has tremendously strengthened our immune system as we are no more getting fevers, allergies, infections etc.

  • Better Digestive Health: High sugar intake disrupts the gut microbiome. Quitting sugar eliminated constipation, gas, bloating, smelly farts, acidity, lack of hunger and headaches. These were all signs of disturbed gut.

  • Lower Risk of Certain Cancers: Scientific research has shown that sugar increases the chances of cancer. Definately, our risk of cancers was reduced by quitting sugar.
