We quit using the dining table for eating in 2016. We don’t own a dining table. We take all our meals by sitting on the floor. Eating while sitting on the floor, particularly in a cross-legged position offers several benefits like:

Improved Digestion: The forward and backward bending motion required to reach food while sitting on the floor stimulates digestive juices and aid in the breakdown of food.

Weight Management: The act of sitting and rising from the floor increases calorie expenditure. Additionally, the cross-legged position promotes slower eating, which helps in feeling full sooner and prevents overeating.

Enhanced Flexibility: Regularly sitting on the floor improves flexibility in the hips, knees, ankles, and spine.

Improved Posture: Maintaining an upright posture while sitting on the floor strengthens core muscles and improves overall spinal alignment.

Stress Reduction: The grounded position promotes a sense of calmness and mindfulness during meals.

Heart Health: Some studies suggest that the cross-legged sitting position improves blood circulation and heart health.
